Cardiac Technician
**Summary:** Performing and processing EKGs and assisting during cardiovascular stress testing.
**Work hours**: Must be available to work variable shifts which could start as early as 6:00am or run as late as 5pm. The work shift will be determined based upon department and patient scheduling needs. Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings and participate in non-restricted call as needed. Regular attendance is required.
**Education/Experience Requirements: **
? High School graduate or equivalent
? BLS certified
? Must complete basic EKG interpretation course and stress test certification within 3 months of date of hire
**Education/Experience Preferred:**
? Prior EKG experience a plus

? Ability to work effectively with technical and medical staff, patients and families

**Physical Requirements:** Must possess the degree to total body strength and flexibility necessary to move equipment and assist and transport patients. Must be able to assist patients with limited mobility or those requiring total care. Must be able to reach items on the floor, and to reach objects overhead to a height of 5 feet above ground level and reach across a stretcher to a distance of 25 inches. Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs. to a height of 3 feet above ground level. Must be able to stand 85% of the time, averaging 3 miles of walking per 8-hour shift. Manual dexterity is required to manipulate large/small objects, use computer keyboard and to operate equipment. Visual acuity and color vision are required to observe the patient and discern information from electronic monitors, patient charts, ID bands and other printed documents.
**Working Environment:** Exposure to ionizing radiation, potentially hazardous materials, blood and high risk body fluids and patients with communicable diseases. Indoor work 100% of the time, in varying light conditions.
